Yes, your subdomain is an ENS. Once acquired, you have full control of it and you can view it from the ENS app, just like any other domain. To make things simpler, your ENS subdomain is also represented by an ERC-721 NFT that dynamically resolves the subdomain to the address that is holding the NFT.
Of course, it's the purpose! If your friend is a moron, you'll want to transfer the yourfriend.isamoron.eth subdomain to him. In order to do so, all you have to do is transfer the ERC-721 NFT and it will automatically resolve to your friend's address.
Yes, since we are using the ESF.tools smart contract, your subdomain is represented by an actual ERC-721 NFT that you can trade on the secondary market, unlike subdomains created from the ENS App where it is just a registry entry of the top level domain.
Technically, your subdomain will expire when the top level domain expires. There is no way to keep a subdomain active whilst the top level domain expires. That being said, we will extend the top level domains before they expire. In the event that a meteor falls on earth and kills the whole team, renewing a domain is not only something that the domain owner can do, but anyone can do it. You can extend it by as little or as much as you like. You will also benefit if someone else decides to extend for the same reason.
At this stage, the top level domain is wrapped in the ESF.tools smart contract, but not yet locked. Locking it would make your subdomain verifiably unruggable. However, we decided not to lock it (yet) because ENS is working on Name Wrapper and possibly on a subdomain registrar of their own. If this is the case, and if the features offered by ENS are as good as what ESF.tools offers, we might want to migrate our top level domains and subdomains to ENS and give you full control with the parent domain locked from there instead. Should we take that direction, the whole process would be transparent to you. We will however run polls to see whether you'd prefer us to lock it anyways.
Franklin is a moron. But he can be many other things. Maybe Franklin will have his own moment of glory one day... Maybe the subdomain buyers will get to know Franklin too...
In a shortcoming future, there will be many other subdomains to purchase.
In addition to this, we also want subdomain buyers to meet Franklin the moron. He is a real moron, but nevertheless he is a busy person. It's costly to meet him... Luckily he told us he likes subdomain buyers! They might be able to meet him for free. How lucky they are!
